Re: Good Choice?

I looked on craigslist, but there wasn't much. I found a besson(need info) and a Bach. I asked what model they were.

you can find pro models that cost 3000 new for half the price used, in very good condition. (Even less if there is some silver/laquer damage or some dents. Besides that damage, the horn might play just as good as a new one. It just costs a lot less)

I got my Bach Stradivarius second hand. I got a 9 year old silver + gold plated Bach that still looks as new, and paid around 45% of the new price for a regular Strad right now. So it's definitely worth it!
my trumpets:
Bach Stradivarius Model 198
Yamaha 8335 Xeno

What is a Bach 198?
I'm not Familiar with that model

Re: Good Choice?

A link to a horn in TM classifieds:

http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f209...ing-50015.html (WTS/WTT 1968 Olds Recording)

I used to own it and traded it for a Sovereign cornet which I play a lot. It is a beautiful horn and you would not be disappointed. I'd buy it back if I could afford to.

It looks nice. I thought about buying one when they first came out.
I forgot about them.

Re: Good Choice?

The seller of the Besson said it was a 1000 model. Are these any good?

Re: Good Choice?

BTW, the max price I can probably pay is $900 - $1000. Because I'm switching, I would still have to buy the correct mouthpieces and such.

Re: Good Choice?

Ian000450, it's imperative that you play a trumpet before you buy it. Also, having a second opinion from a private teacher or band director helps a lot as well. You can get a great trumpet for $900 or less, but it will probably be used. I would say that patience truly is a virtue in this instance. Keep checking craigslist and local shops for some great trumpets. Also, if you like that Eastman than you can keep it in your mind while you shop around. Buying a trumpet on eBay is risky at best, because (despite reviews and such), you don't really KNOW how it plays. Good luck.
