Depending on condition of the instrument you should do fine, those are one of the best reasonable priced horns you can get.

I agree with Mendez. We can tell the age by the serial number. I used to have a nice one. Welcome to the world of trumpet playing (the other brass)
One of my daughters played Mellophone and Tuba in high school, but seems to have recovered nicely. Please give us a report when you get the trumpet and stay with the forum as you both progress.

Olds are very good horns.
Tell MF your serial number so we can know the age.

Good luck with the playing
Can't wait to hear about your progress

I suspect that your sister will have an easier time with the transition than you will, but stick with it.

Depending on the condition of the horn, and Ambassador is a great choice for a beginner...

Re: got myself a ebay trumpet!

Very nice, ebay is risky, but thats wheregot my beloved mint condition 1976 Bach Strad. If I were you and your a tuba player id buy a Schilke 24 mouthpiece, its about the biggest youll get. They are very good size for a trumpet, and youll learn easier on it

Olds Ambassadors are good horns. I play mine every day. If yours is in good condition then it will be well worth the $160. Have fun

Thats a good buy. Did you win it today or Friday? I was bidding on one Friday and got snookered in the last 5 seconds...lol. I have a couple of those and still play them now and then. I keep one at the office so I'll have some practice time if I'm pulling some late hours. Good luck to you and your sister. I'll have to warn ya....trumpet shopping on ebay can be addictive...lol.

Re: got myself a ebay trumpet!

I use an Ambassador for My jazz/gig horn. Couldn't possibly be happier! The horn was free for me! (Plus what I spent for the Bach Leadpipe to go on). WELL WORTH IT!!
Good bidding Sir.
