![]() | Haas or Ehe I am a very horrible and beginner nat. trumpet player. I have a cheap and awful east Europe one hole trpt. I am considering to start looking for a new one. What's your opinion a Haas or an Ehe? A Short or a Long?. Thanks and Best Regards. Gus |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Haas or Ehe Gus, I'd recommend being in touch with Barry Baugess at The Baroque Trumpet Shop I doubt that who the trumpet is copied after (Ehe, Haas) will be as important to your decision as choosing between 3 or 4 hole designs. Barry can steer you. Good luck! EC |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Haas or Ehe CG, Haas and Ehe were both respected trumpet builders during Bach's time. The primary difference between horns built be these masters, as I remember, is the flair of the bell. I doubt that either was designed to be a low or high trumpet. Playing trumpet scholar tonight, EC |

![]() | Re: Haas or Ehe Which bell came first depends on the generation of the Haas or Ehe family trumpet makers that is copied in the modern reproduction. The differences in bell shape in the different generations (e.g. Ehe II versus Ehe III) will show up in intonation or tone quality characteristics, so there is no single answer. Of the bells Egger makes, the Haas bells are bigger in diameter and flare more than the Ehe bells. I have found in general that the Egger Haas bells are a bit louder and the Ehe bells a bit sweeter sounding. Both are fine bells and can work well, and neither would hold you back if you find an instrument that plays well overall. I agree with Ed that 3 vs. 4 vent holes is a bigger concern. Hope this helps.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Haas or Ehe I find that you need to find out what the ensemble that you will be playing with uses. If they have 3 hole, it is good advice for you to do the same. If you have small hands, the 3 hole is also easier to play. If you need to change keys in the same concert, the 3 hole is also easier. If everybody else is using 4 hole, do that. You will probably have less intonation issues!

![]() | Re: Haas or Ehe The issue is around here almost nobody plays nat. Even I managed to play 2nd in a recording -go figureĦĦĦ-.- I would like to buy -when I have the bucks- the most wide spectrum, -classical, baroque, clarino, principale etc.- so I would say I want the most all around and the most important, THE MOST PLAYABLE. Mr. Carroll thanks, once I have a few more bucks I'll ask Barry Baugess. Thanks and regards. Gus |
