Exclamation Help for the right one..

I really need to change my trumpet..
i've been looking of hundreds of models the last 2 months..
of course money sort everything..but..
i'm always on the dilemma: New (expensive) or vintage (thrill, cheaper)

Right now i'm looking in 3 models..
Selmer Chorus 80 Matt Laque (new)
Bach 25 anniversary edition (used)
Blessing 100th anniversary limited to 100 pieces
and some Getzen in perfect condition back from 1951 (!?)

So i think that the Selmer is one of the most beautiful pieces i ever see in this category...!! the thing is that i can't test it because no one risks to bring it to his store and watch it stand in a corner..
after all i'm not the best player and definitely almost everything is going to be better than my current trumpet..

Does anyone knows something about any of these pieces or can suggest me something else, vintage or not..

many thanx

Interesting line up there Pilthos. Why are you choosing between those horns?

Smile that's a good one..

i think you re 100% right..
you know apart from the selmer chorus 80 the other ones are not within my standard options..
but while looking in ebay and that stuff i managed to find some more interesting (for my eye) trumpets, and quite specific...
i'm telling you, here in Greece, you have to be very lucky to find a PRO trumpet to play..or at least if you find one of some brand you won't find another of a different brand..
the brass market is very small in here.. and no one risks for it..
so every knowledge i have is by reading and "researching"..oh and asking my teacher...!!
MY nerves!! My cholesterol has reached 850!! (kidding)

At first i wanted to buy the 6310Z..lightweight, freeblowing ...
but then i saw that i could find maybe a little better trumpets almost with the same money or cheaper on the internet.. Plus that i don't the yamaha cause it's too industial and has too massive production...

Lastly i would like to say this.. a student of my teacher is selling me the Selmer TT for 1200-1500 euros..it's a perfect price..it's new.. hasn't played it at all... he finds it very heavy so he sells it... that's a dilemma.. 1000 euros and more, downprice.. but i think is going to be extremely heavy for me.. doesn't worth to buy a trumpet that i can't play-shake it..
well that's it..

thank you very much for your help..

Re: Help for the right one..

The choice MUST always be based on how that particular horn plays. None of the models that you mentioned are like Yamahas in that they play exactly the same. The Selmer horns are very good, but each one is different.
I can only say "play before you pay".
As far as the TT being too heavy, if you buy it, you will get used to it. It is not that bad!

The Schilke X series is a large bore horn and is going to blow easy. Make sure you can fill it up for a long phrase.
