![]() | Here is what I've been working on... A man emailed me a few months ago asking if I would build a horn for him. he told me he was looking for something of a replica of a Monette Raja Samadhi. I did a few internet searches for images and humbly thought that might be a touch out of my league. I feel like I build great trumpets, but I had just never attempted something so extravagant. He said he had tried a Courtouis Evo II that had the bell over bell feature and was just fascinated with it so much that he found one of those bells to install on his Bach Strad. I thought about it a few days before I decided to take him up on the project. I figured I would try a few bell designs and see what I come up with. If I could get the bell to work, I should be happy with the whole thing... So, this is not the first attempt, but I think its the best of what I tried... ![]() This is not the finished product, but it was good enough to play test. The sound is huge. Really something far more than I expected. Very very big core sound, dark, lots of volume, and not muddy. Im very anxious to get this horn finished with the leadpipe to compliment it. I assume this look is not for everyone, but in this case it is exactly what the guy was looking for. I sent him these photos and got a very glowing response. I put a lot of myself in the instruments I build and it is nice to have such a great reaction from my customers. More photos: Giancarlo pictures by bbirshop - Photobucket Thank you for looking. The sound was nice, but I can imagine holding that trumpet for long sets/rehearsals...Just a thought.
