Hidden Horns

I have been looking over the internet, e-bay, and craigslist for the last cople of years in preparation for buying a good semi-pro flugel. One thing I have noticed is the similarity of brands. For instance I was bidding on a FH on e-bay. On the bell was inscribed J. Gras. J. Gras was a French retailer in the early 1930s (I think) and this horn looked exactly like a Coueson. Another couple of horns I've seen lately are the Zeus 800 R and the Blessing w/copper. Again, very similar horns. I guess now my real question is, who makes the Zeus 800 R model? Could it be a Blessing or Kanstul in disguise?

Re: Hidden Horns

Just because an instrument is built for another company does NOT mean that it shares any of the virtues of the original.

If Kanstul is building to a price, certain things may NOT be the same. The TLC in positioning the braces for instance can make a HUGE difference in how the horn plays.
