How do Repaimen Chemicaly Clean Trumpets

What is the name of the Chemical used to Chemicaly clean trumpets and can you do it your self.

It's usually phosphoric acid, but some use stronger chemicals than that. And I would HIGHLY recommend that you do not attempt this yourself, best to leave it to the pros.

Over time, crud and lime deposits build up inside your horn. These are generally basic in nature. The acid bath cleans out all this crud and lime and leaves the horn clean inside. I do my horn about once a year.

Was chatting some "shop talk" with another repair tech the other day.
He used an interesting correlation regarding the build-up inside a horn -- he said it's akin to plaque on your teeth ... and in extreme cases, like what barnacles emit that makes them adhere to ships.

Wow !! (If you've been around the ocean and boats, you'll get the idea).

I could see that - someone who never brushed their teeth would have much more buildup than someone who did. It would also apply to people who smoke and play.
