How much do you spend on trumpets?

Hi,
just wondering how much money or what percent of your money you spend on buying and collection trumpets, also how many you've had in your life(a list would be nice), thanks!!!

For 20 years, I've been pretty frugal.
Lately, way too much.

Wow, that was so funny I couldn't stop laughing! Great one, A.N.A. Mendez!

Then I realized my wife asks that question regularly. My realization made me wonder if you and I are secretly, and unbeknownst to us, married to the same woman. So, if you don't mind, does your wife fit this description: 5' 9", brown hair and eyes, model-like complexion, voluptuous and unsurpassed physique, voice like an angel, talents too numerous to mention and an intellect like Einstein? If yes, I'm calling my attorney and I will soon own a few more horns!

Seriously, I am very fortunate to own more horns than I am talented enough to play at one time. Who can ask for more?

Again, thanks Mendez, I am still chuckling!

Re: How much do you spend on trumpets?

None of your beeswax Only tell my insurance agent and not my wife Actually, since our income is low they probably eat up more percentage wise than the rich folks.
The life trumpet list has been gone over before on other threads. Too much trouble and heartbreak (sold some stupidly), to go over that again.
Here is what I paid for my current lot, as best as I can recall, (shipping not included)
Barrington $125 clearance WWBW
Reynolds $26 Ebay
Besson $40 Ebay
Czech $35 Ebay
Roth $35 SGW
Olds Amb $50 Craigslist
Getzen 80 -$0 (traded a Collegiate)
33 American Standard $27 Local Goodwill
Concertone $5.50 Ebay

Now you can see why I can't afford a King Super 20!

Re: How much do you spend on trumpets?

It all started about just a tad over 2 years ago...walking in the thrift shop and there was an old Conn Director, I picked it up and put in the MP and to my surprise I made an average intelligent sound...

I used to play some 25 years ago, and at that only for a year or so.

I bought that trumpet for $25 I believe. I started to play around and I got a method book with play along CD's. I then took 3 months of lessons from the local music store. the lessons cost more than the trumpet.

In time, that trumpet needed more attention in the repair dept and I was losing confidence when playing it...I started to look around and got a low cost Tri-Star off Ebay. Again it did what it was intended to do, I continued to play around with the horn. that was about $75 not including shipping.

After 2 years my search ended with what I thought was the best cornet for me, the Smith Watkins 470 K2. I got in touch with the northwestern rep and was ready to buy...but not at @ $2799.

I knew what kind and type I was looking for and I searched and found the next best thing, the Blessing BCR XLS for $750. I'm pleased with it. I bought a couple MP's to find the right one for me and I think I have the combo equipment I need, now its up to me to practice and practice and get better at it.

I was told by my "Financial advisor" that I could buy the Cornet. I couldn't wait for it to arrive. I'm having fun with it. but if I win the lottery, I will buy the Smith Watkins for $2799 or what ever the price is at that time.

So, what level are YOU at? Are you ready to check out the thrift store and see if you can still make THAT sound? Or are you ready to turn in that old horn for an upgrade? Or are you ready to take your horn playing to the next level? Whichever level your at, the cost will be appropriate.

Just my experiences.
