http://www.hubvanlaar.nl/frameset.php

I have met Hub, been in his shop in the outskirts of Maastricht, Netherlands and played quite a few of his horns. He does good work and is steadily making a name for himself. His flugels are incredible. I have included a link to his site which should be a good beginning.

Hi,

Check out the site that Alex mentions, it contains a brief description of all models.

Hub van Laar makes great horns! I play a Van Laar myself, the B4 model, with some customizations. Would highly recommend that horn, if you are playing bigband or jazz. B2 would also be a good choice.

My advice would be to get in touch with Hub and have him build your perfect horn - he' s a monster trumpetmaker - rather than buying it at this price at an auction (it's not so much cheaper, is it?).

For instance, when I went there I went for a B5 or B7, matching my Schilke X3L. After a short session, the B4 totally won me over.
The same thing happened to a friend of mine, who ended up with a B2.

Hope this helps a little.
