I could use everybody's help with this! Hey friends, Back in June of 2001, I had 5 horns stolen along with a car. I was flipping through ebay today and lo and behold, 2 of them show up. If all of you would wouldn't mind doing me a HUGE favor and NOT bid on listing numbers 7410413399 and 7410411444, I would appreciate it. The seller, mainmarket, and I are trying to work out my getting the horns back but I have no idea how that's going to play out. It would make it easier if no bids appear on the 2 horns. I'm certain the seller is NOT the thief (bought them from a dealer in Ohio who bought them from a pawn shop in Ohio) so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll cooperate. Thanks! Paul

I would REALLY consider getting the police involved. Make sure you get your horns back. If it was a reputeable pawn shop, they knew better than to accept stolen horns. Really, get the law involved. -cw-

you're from detroit, retrieve them and teach him a lesson, just kidding. Get the pawn shops name and inform the police, you just may get all of your horns back. Good Luck - Dave

First off, congrats on winning the Eclipse contest. I'm trying to get the police involved but I'm dealing with The Detroit Police and The Pontiac Police. Sort of like trying to run through pancake syrup. The auctions ended early because somebody alledgedly offered the seller $2100 for both. If I have to go to The State Police, someone is getting involved in this first thing in the morning or these horns will be gone for good. Paul | |

As I suspected (read "feared"), the original report made to The Detroit Police did not contain the descriptions or serial numbers of the stolen trumpets. I gave them to the officer or volunteer on the phone but they, for whatever reason, neglected to include the info on the report. Consequently, the horns were never put into LEIN nor did the info make it NCIC. There's nothing out there showning my horns were ever considered stolen. The lister has every legal right to have them in his possesion. My only legal recourse is to buy back my horns. He's already sold the picc (the one I wanted back the most) and the E3L is relisted on ebay for more than I can afford. The short version of all this is.... I GOT SCREWED!!! Paul

That's absolutely rediculous. That is a large chunk of money and time you probably devoted to those horns. I'm sure there is something that could be done, but it all depends on how much and how long you have to yell at people before they start to cooperate in this situation. If they neglected to report information that you gave them, it's their problem now, and they need to rectify the situation. This is very frustrating for me to hear, although I'm sure that it is more frustrating to you. My condolences.
