How many of you guys have this for your horns? If you do what kind of set up do you have or details can you give me?

I am looking to set something up next week and wanted to get some back ground info.

Thanks,

Jason

I have mine set up through my homeowners policy. It's a specific rider with an extra charge....small enough that I'm not sure of the cost anymore. Same with my wife's jewelry. Less than a $100 bucks a year for everything. Horns and jewelry.

Stae Farm has a Personal Articles Policy. Cost me about $58 a year to cover replacement cost (at present or future value)

If you make money playing the trumpet I don't think you are going to be able to get your horns covered under any home owners policy. If you belong to your musicians union you should check there first. I have had luck with state farm. They have instrument insurance I also insure my car with them so I think I get a break. Check around

I think if you are professional you must get special insurance but not necessarily as a rider to your home policy. I just renewed my home insurance and pay $77 per year for $12,000 coverage on a musical instrument rider... which is 0.66%.

I am actually doing this with State Farm right now. As long as I am a student I will annually pay $.48 per $100 of the insured value of my instruments which will ride on my renter and auto policy. If/when I get a job, I will pay approximately $2.21 per $100 for the first 2K and then $.48 per $100 thereafter.

It covers me anywhere I take or leave my equipment, and for almost any reason. It also covers my cases, mutes, and mouthpieces with no deductible at replacement cost.

I have State Farm for my autos plus my home and my agent told me as long as my claim is not at a place where I am being paid to play, my home owners will cover it. I would need a rider to cover my horns for a paying gig. old geezer Dave

Joel,

there are trying to give me the same policy for 89 a year, what did you say to them to get it down to 58?

i was trying to cover for $6,000, hardly everything, but it would have been enough to replace my picc, B flat and C.

did they cut you some kind of deal for having other polices with them? do you have a deductible?
