I've Been Eclipse'd !!

I sat in with Chuck Willard's (B6 / Solar Bell) big band tonight and he was gracious enough to let me play his new Eclipse Solar Bell trumpet..............and I don't mean noodle for 2 minutes, I got to play it during the entire 2 hour rehearsal.

Man, what a nice horn. I found it to be very responsive, very easy to move around on and easy to play, what I mean is effortless. I played that horn for two hours and it seemed like about 10 minutes. It doesn't fight you at all. I think the sound I got was great, very easy to blend with the section, easy to play quietly but you could easily light it up when you pushed it. Even though it's not broken in yet, the valves were liquid smooth and quick. I don't think I need to comment on the looks and workmanship. The horn is gorgeous and flawless. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is obvious. There is not a picture anywhere that does it justice.

Thanks again Chuck for the opportunity to play your prize. This horn is seriously good.

Solar Bell has a spectacular aura about
Marty,

Nice review!

It was a pleasure having you sit in again. I am glad you enjoyed playing the MS.

You're right, the pictures do not do the trumpet any justice.

I got (Almost ) as big a kick out of watching and hearing you play it as I do playing it myself.

I am happy you were able to come and play it and that you enjoyed it.

Chuck.... did he give it "the look"? That's where they play a few notes and then just stop and stare?

Oh ya......I looked at that horn a lot, and that post was written kind of late last night. I should have included words like fantastic, phenomenal, awesome, etc. We all know the standard trumpeter greeting...........let me just say, that horn is better then me. I love my Laskey Bach's, but anyone thinking of getting a new horn should seriously seriously consider the Eclipse line. I would if I had the do re me.

Marty,

Glad that you had the opportunity to play Chuck's Solar! Don't worry that you had it for the whole rehearsal. I have it on first-hand account that Chuck hasn't been able to put it down at home!

The best part of all of this is that ALL of the Eclipse models play GREAT!

Thanks for posting your thoughts, Marty!

Best always,
Bruce

PS - Ed... what's "the look"? I had one of the models for two weeks before I noticed the finish inside of the bell. That's the truth! It's all about the sound and feel for me.

It's the look like when I played the LR the first time I've ever played it.

It was definitely a defining moment in my musical life (thanks to you!).

Best,

T

"The Look" is what Maynard does with the Monette in that video on the Monette website.
