![]() | I've been play testing THREE Kanstul horns. PICTURES added. The Chicago 1001, and the 1070. Both in silver plate. Both from: http://www.pickmusic.net/trumpets.htm Quality is great. The 1070 is a bit too much for me with the .470" bore. I like the 1001 (.464" bore). Tomorrow, I'll be getting another Kanstul horn, the WB/ZKT 1600, also done in silver plate. I started many years ago with a Benge .460" bore, my thinking is that out of the 3 horns I mentioned I'll like the 1600 best. I'll be adding some (hopefully good) pictures of all three horns to my website soon. |

![]() | The WB was a few hundred dollars more than the other two (which were the same price). Anyway they are priced with gig bag and mouthpiece. There are Minor appearance differences in all three. Not apparent until you have all three of the side by side. The 1001 & 1070 have standard water keys, the 1600 has Amado water keys. The gig bags that come with these now have Kanstul embroidered on the side and it is very sharp lookng. They are also very well made, enough protection as long as you are reasonably careful with it. ![]() Sound wise, 1070 was darker, the WB was the brightest of the three, the 1001 was somewhere in the middle. I'm not an expert, so I hope that helps. |

![]() | Congratulations Spawn, good choice. I've now owned 3 new Kanstuls and haven't been disappointed in any of them. By the way the valves are good to start with but they keep getting better and better. By the way did you think the 1001 Chicago played like your old Benge? Regards Trevor PS Now for the mouthpiece safari!! |

![]() | This morning after my wife left for work I played the horns again. I am able to hit a high C with no problem on the 1001, yet, with the WB it isn't as easy. The mouthpiece I've selected is the CG3 and am using it on both 1001 & 1600. I can't figure it out. On another note (pun intended), it is a sunny, but cold day. I'm leaving in a few minutes to pick up the new camera (EBAY win). I should be able to take some good pictures today. Back to the horns... the bore size difference isn't that great between the 1001 & 1600, but could it be that? I keep bouncing back and forth on my final choice. If I could, I'd buy both the 1001 & 1600, but, my wife would kill me. |
