Jerome Callet trumpet?

Has anyone heard of this brand? I saw one for sale...at least it was as of a couple of days ago for a little over 400. It looked descent, silver etc. "Jerome Callet New York" or something like that. They advertised it as a great "student horn." Would it be worth buying? If so I'd like to flip it and make a little off of it.

Re: Jerome Callet trumpet?

Good horn, and not a "student" trumpet in any way.
New York was the first model in Mr.Callet's line, that later became "Jazz".
I'll give you $400 for it.:)

Not to change the subject but maybe add to this one. Jerome manufactured a hybrid horn with dual metals. I think he used brass with a copper plate then silver plate. I would have liked to have one.
Anybody know about this horn?

Re: Jerome Callet trumpet?

Play before you pay! There are many evil spirits with valve wearing powers as well as no scruples when it comes to taking out dents or doing repairs with non-original parts............
Calling it a student horn could be ignorance on the part of the seller OR a sign that some pros have tried it and turned it down. If you can play test the horn, take a second pair of ears that you trust - and listen to them!

I do remember those trumpets. The heavy copper plating was offered on both the Bb's and C's, as I recall. I remember the Callet website mentioning how long the bells had to spend in the plating tank to get the specified thickness of copper. It always sounded like the Conn Coprion concept, except with a brass bell instead of the removable mandrel, to me.
