Jupiter Flugelhorn Do any of you play on a Jupiter flugelhorn? I'm looking at one, and I will not get the chance to play it before I buy it. It appears to be a model 846. Which appears to be a middle of the line horn. I currently use a Bach Bb, and C trumpet, and a Getzen Piccolo.I would like to find a reasonable Flugelhorn to add to my others. Thanks for your comments, Jim <><

Re: Jupiter Flugelhorn I tried both top of the line Jupiter flugel and the model below it. I preferred the top of the line model. It seems to be a copy of a Yamaha Shew. The difference between the two is that the pro model had a more even blow, responded faster and the workmanship seemed to be much better. Both models are definitely worth a try. My regular flugel is a Shew Yamaha. Garry

Re: Jupiter Flugelhorn I would agree with Matt. For the same money you are more likely to get a better instrument with the Blessing flugelhorn. The Blessing has a trigger on the third slide, which you will need, and the Jupiter does not. You should try before you buy. That is the only way you will know.

Re: Jupiter Flugelhorn I have and play a Jupiter 846RL (Rose Brass Bell and 3rd trigger). It is a good horn for the money. It plays in tune and has a nice tone to it. The valves are solid. I use it in a big band and occasional pit orchestras and it blends well. I have played pro models and they are nicer horns. I was not convinced they were $1200 nicer and I am happy with my Jupiter.

Re: Jupiter Flugelhorn I tried out a Jupiter 846 about a year ago, adit did have a trigger. I thought it was a great horn for the money....at least what sound I could hear in a convention center floor. Good luck.

Re: Jupiter Flugelhorn I have a Jupiter 846 that I added a third valve slide trigger to. I think it is one of the better horns on the market. I especially like the smaller bore (.433) than the Blessing (.460). For the money you can't go worng with it but make sure you have a third slide trigger. Stay away from any horn that uses a trumpet mouthpiece, you lose the sound you're looking for.

Re: Jupiter Flugelhorn A couple of years ago I went on a fluegel search. I played Blessings, Yamahas, Bachs, Cousenons, and Jupiters. The Blessing with a copper bell played nice, but the valves felt really cheap. The Jupiter 846RL was an awesome horn. In the end I decided to get the valves in my Olds L-12 redone by Anderson instead of getting a new horn. But if I had gone for a new horn, it would have been the Jupiter 846RL
