A neighbor who hears me playing stopped over tonight and asked my opinion on this horn for his son who is learning to play. I told him the brand name was tops but I knew nothing about the model. I'll ask the experts (you guys) the same question. What do you think of the Kanstul KTR 700?

I currently have a KTR 700 at home.
I´ve also tested the CCT 900 but even it has reversed leadpipe, the KTR 700 felt more open, nicer to me.

The playing feel is nice, quite open.
The sound more at the bright side, together with a shallow mpc it sounds a bit edgy and starts to scream. With a deeper cup it offers a nicer, fuller sound.

The manufacturing quality of my example is very good, it has no nickel silver or gold brass parts, so you have to take care, cleaning and greasing the valves regulary, the mouthpipe and tuning slide should be washed regulary and I would recommend to let it dry after playing before closing the case to minder the risk of red rot.
Comparing it to my Schilke, the KTR 700 sounds edgier, more powerful but misses some sizzle.

Overall a nice trumpet for it´s price.
