Re: A List of Trumpet Brands

Was the "Carol" answer replying to the Wexley queltion?
Are the Wexley horns cheap China knockoff horns? I don't have any experience with the cheaply made off-shore instruments. I guess the one I got was a freak since it's such a good piece. It is HEAVY and plays solidly. All my horns are old American, British, and German instruments. I'm just curious about the Wexley, though. I couldn't pass up on this for a good student horn for $30 with a good mouthpiece and case. The bore measures out around .462 (though my calipers are not the most accurate right now), and the bell is 4.75". It has a nice tone and good intonation. Is this a freak among Wexley's?

Sorry. Make that Wexler, and not Wexley. I just don't know anything about them. Are they a piece-of-trash brand? On this one, someone
who obviously knows engraving has engraved a nice patch over the Wexler name. It's still pretty legible though. It has a heavy bell, and the engraving is right deep. Thanks.

    Cecilia Trumpets made in TAIWAN
I cant even find an official site for them. I can only guess they sale for around $200 new.

Cecilia Bb Trumpet Great Trumpet Made In Taiwan

The only reason I know of the Cecilia trumpet is because I came across one on http://columbia.craigslist.org/msg/1754128448.html selling for $3500!!!! Some use modified media-blasted "trumpet shaped object" The guy has yet to reply to me why its worth anywhere near that price.

seeing as I recently purchased an awesome Hub van Laar B4 and the link is broken...

The correct adres is Hub van Laar | Trumpets & Flugelhorns | Margraten, the Netherlands not .com :)
