Re: A List of Trumpet Brands

I think taht it is offence to put Zeus, Chinese and Indian manifactures and forget companies like spada and NYTC...they may be not "major" as far as quantity is concerned, but the quality is really top...you will find links in the TM links section

I don't think David meant any disrespect! It looks to me like he just copy and pasted from some list!

Nick, if you look at the date of the original post (and remember that it was copied from a list on another site... TH) then you'll see that it was 2004 or possibly 2003 when the list first started. NYTC was NOT EVEN IN BUSINESS back then and Spada was a virtual unknown in North America at the time. (Many of the European makers were just becoming known...hence why the list was started in the first place). Zeus was making "BIG NOISE" about being "copied from Bach" and everyone was trying to find out who their (secret) manufacturer really was. (It didn't take long for someone to recognize the Kanstul showroom in the "secret factory photos"). Many of the Indian and Chinese "brands" have since changed their names (but are undoubtedly from the same factory). You just have to keep it in historical context; no insults were meant.

David was the guy who started the list on TH and many, MANY people added their inputs to come up with that list.

And (let's be honest here), NYTC doesn't actually make trumpets: Felix contracts the entire manufacture out to others. There are a couple of people who build horns to order for him.

Re: A List of Trumpet Brands

Toot,

You have got a point...I don't know about NYTC but when I bought my first spada (5 years ago) spada was already a reference in the trumpet world of western europe...But I agree with you. Spada may have been unkonwn in US and Canada then...

Toots,
Is it a bad thing?:)
Well, actually,NYTC does make most of their own trumpets. The only parts that are made outside, are the valve section, specialty leadpipes ( M&K),and some bells.
NYTC is a little different now than it was 3 years ago.
We still do contract Possegger to make the New York Line for us,but the Cali and Classic lines are made by Garry Stoner, who is a part of NYTC.
Stage 1 is still a brand,made by NYTC,or not.
