Re: Long Cornet

The Yamaha 2310 is a great horn for the money. I think it sounds more "cornetty" than the Yamaha 2330 shepherds crook model.

Re: Long Cornet

When you say "long cornet", are you speaking narrowly to refer to a cornet which has a trumpet-like leadpipe with a single wrap going into the 3rd valve and the tuning slide facing the bell, or are you speaking broadly of any cornet which is longer than normal even though it may have a double wrap on the leadpipe with the tuning slide facing the player? The reason that I ask is, I have a Blessing Standard cornet. It has the standard cornet double wrap but it is wrapped more tightly than, say, my Olds or Conn and the extra length is put into the bell so that at first glace it has the proportions of a trumpet. The overall length is 16 1/2" from receiver to bell compared to just 14 1/2" for my Olds Ambassador cornet. So, if it is just the extra length you want, the Blessing Standard will give you that and it is a great player and, if you can find one, should be quite inexpensive. I bought mine at Shopgoodwill.com and it is in excellent shape. I think I paid around $80 for it with original case in average condition.

BTW, welcome as a new member of TM. This is a great site. What are you planning to do with your long cornet?
