![]() | Looking at buying a Lawler C7 Hello everyone, I am looking very seriously at buying a Lawler C7 in the next few months. I was wondering what others impressions are as far as gold brass bell vs. yellow brass and the finish options. I play mostly church/wedding gigs, wind ensemble, and big band. I am looking for a horn that can do most of this more efficiently than my large bore Yamaha 6345HGII. Thanks for any advice. Steve PS-I have tried the entire Yamaha line (including Artist and LA), Conn Vintage 1, and several various configurations of Bach Stads. The one that fits the way I want to play is the Yamaha 8310Z. I was hoping the Lawler would have the same playablity but with a little more "weight" to the sound. |

| Mezzo Piano User | Re: Looking at buying a Lawler C7 I have a C7. It's an early one, in yellow brass. I love it and it replaced my Yammy 6310Z. It plays a lot easier than the Yammy. I can't compare the gold brass bell. I've also never played the 83120Z, which most folks prefer to the 6310Z. Talk to Roy. Tell him what you're looking for. He'll dial it in for you and back it 100%. I'm a fan~ My C7 replaced the 6310z and my recent model Committee horn. The C7 was the pick of the 3, for me* To my ear, the C7 sounds very Committee-like.

I bought it to replace a new Schilke B6 that I was just a little too hard on. I used it for church and as the lead player in a very busy pro big band. It is a very fine trumpet, and an excellent value. Finish? I went with the satin (bead blast) gold plate. ![]() -cw-

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Looking at buying a Lawler C7 Mine was a yellow brass, medium bore that Roy made for me. It played very much like the chilke B6 with a fuller sound. The Eclipse, yes I won the contest. I went to New Jersy and met Leigh and the crew that was there. I played a Solar Bell belonging to Trent Austin and another one which was displayed. I also played every Eclipse trumpet AND flugelhorn that Leigh brought. I was hooked before I ever recieved my own MS a few weeks later in the mail. To me, the horns were the easiest playing and had the sound I was always looking for, not the just the MS but the MR and the large bell horns Leigh made. I was one of those that thought to pay money for Monette, Eclipse or Taylor was just plain foolish. Well, that changed in a hurry. The horns ARE that much better. My Lawler was a VERY good trumpet, plus it was made "just for me". After playing my own Eclipse it was obvious that the Lawler was not going to be used by me very often, if at all. I sold the Lawler for that reason only. I was so impressed with Eclipse that I pursued Leigh about letting me havean Eclipse dealership of my own.

| Pianissimo User | Re: Looking at buying a Lawler C7 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280097737898 I have a C7 for sale now. I love it but made the decision to sell since I've ended up doing more classical stuff so I'm investing in a better C trumpet.
