Looking to get new horn; Stomvi, Bach, or Yamaha

Hello. Well after 6 years of playing through school and plans to minor in music in college, I figure now would be a good time to invest in a new trumpet( to get rid of my Yamaha 2335 with gross valves aswell). I have been looking at the standards for a new horn: the Stradavarious, Xeno, and now a Stomvi( the USA model, to be exact.)
My first question is would ordering any of these horns online before actually playing them be a great folly? It seems to me that all of these horns are of excellent quality, and that any one of them might feel odd to play at first if coming from a different trumpet.
Second, what are you opinions on the Stomvi? I read a well written review on here, but I would like to see if there any other opinions on it.
So finally, which of these would be ideal? Or could I not go wrong with any of them? Are there any others in the price range I should look at?
Thanks.

that's what I thought of bachs and Yamahas
If you have tried them out, you should be fine, but Bachs have been known to be inconsistent.

Don't limit yourself to those 3 companies, unless you have tried as many makes as possible out, and have decided on those three. Look at Getzen, Wilson, Schilke (way more then the others, but you should be able to get a nice second hand one) and others!

Where are you, if you are in the UK, I can point you towards some very good shops.

Re: Looking to get new horn; Stomvi, Bach, or Yamaha

I have bought a lot of my horns online - it's not a problem as long as the store you order from has a good return policy. If you return, you will have lost money in shipping, but that's a small price to pay to be able to try a horn, especially if you live in an area that has very few music stores to choose from. Just be careful not to damage the horn before returning it, and save all packing material and ascessories.
Check out the Schilkes whie you're at it - they are fabulous quality horns in the same price range as the others. You really can't go wrong with any of these horns, but play as many as you can - one size doesn't always fit all when it comes to equipment, so make the most educated decision you can.

Re: Looking to get new horn; Stomvi, Bach, or Yamaha

All great advice. Like Mamba and flugelgirl have suggested, because this is going to be an investment in something that you probably plan to keep around for some time, really take the time to read people's feedback on a bunch of horns, i.e., the ones you mentioned, as well as those mentioned by Mamba, flugelgirl, and a brand that I always believe is worth mention: Kanstul Kanstul.com or KANSTUL MUSIC : The instrument you trust from the name you trust.

All of these brands have really nice lines of horns to fit just about anybody's tastes and demands. Plenty of people have asked about "all-purpose" horn recommendations, to which many replies have been posted, if this is what you are looking for.

Good luck with your decision. There are so many great horns out there!

Re: Looking to get new horn; Stomvi, Bach, or Yamaha

The fit and finish on my three Stomvis is superb and they are all good players. You may want to consider what you will use the horn for mostly. My Forte plays very large with its ML bore and #27 bell, so much so that I have gone back to a Schilke medium step bore.

Re: Looking to get new horn; Stomvi, Bach, or Yamaha

My advice is to not limit yourself to any number of brands. Try EVERYTHING you can get your hands on. Every player is different so there is not way to determine a "top brand" of trumpet
