![]() | Melk or Benge Leader Pipe I have a real nice older Benge5 in great condition but that last person put on a Bach 43 leader pipe. I would like to put a Benge pipe on it and can't get to the repair part on the Kanstul web site. I am also considering putting a Charlie Melk pipe on it. I want the horn to be lively and the Bach pipe seems to make the horn less lively than my other Benge. Who has experience with the Melk Benge pipe?Dave

Call Kanstul at 714-563-3325 or e-mail them and check on the cost of sending the horn to them and having them do the work. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. As Zig has the original Benge toooling, he should be able to make and install the correct leadpipe. I have no personal experience with Charlie Melk, but there have been too many people pleased with his work to think there would be any problems. I wouldn't hesitate to have him work on my Benge. I think you'll find his price to be higher than Kanstul's, FWIW. Not unreasonable, just higher. Regards, Bob Eye Dallas, TX | |

| Pianissimo User | Re: Melk or Benge Leader Pipe I've had Charlie replace mouth pipes on 3 horns...fix several bells, do refinishing...everything he's touched has come back significantly improved. He has a tremendous understanding of trumpet variables...what impacts what. I'd contact him for his advice. He will provide you with an honest assessment regardless of whether or not it involves him selling you anything. He's fantastic! Dave Brown |
