![]() | Monette 61X-C for sale soon Hello, This is to give you a heads up on a fantastic trumpet I will be selling in early March. I have been playing trumpet for the Orchestra at Temple Square and Mormon Tabernacle Choir for the past seven years. I will be stepping down from my position after the February concerts and will be selling my Monette C trumpet which I purchased for my time with the orchestra. This trumpet has the insanely cool serial number "1776" and is in absolute mint condition. There is not one dent on the entire horn. Not one. The gold finish is absolutely flawless and is as bright as the day I bought it. The slides and valves are absolutely perfect. I've never had so much as a sticky valve and the slides are like new. I always close the main slide when the horn is in the case. The inside pipes are perfect. I never play this trumpet after eating without first brushing my teeth. I have babied the trumpet from day one. This is the horn to get if your serious about owning an exceptional professional trumpet and don't have the bucks for the new Monettes or the patience to wait 12+ months it takes for Dave to build you one. I will be asking $7000 and will post pictures when I put it up for sell officially. Kevin |

I clicked on this post because I play an MC-61 and was interested to see what you had written (I also just love my horn). After reading about where you play, I realized that I just played a concert with the Principal horn player in your ensemble (Larry Lowe) - on Monday of this week. He came to Arizona and did a movement of a Mozart concerto as well as the 3rd movement from his own concerto with our wind ensemble. Wow! What a fine player.

![]() ![]() | Re: Monette 61X-C for sale soon Hey Kevin, Your horn is only a little older than mine (I'm #1805). They were made when Dave was in the final stages of designing the Prana instruments and I have been told by some people that mine plays a lot like the early Prana models. I can only imagine that it plays like a dream! (I know it sounds great because I heard you and with the choir in summer 2003, which I'm guessing would have been about 6 or 8 months after you got it and it sounded great!) Best, Jimi

![]() | Re: Monette 61X-C for sale soon Kevin, Did you buy a new Monette trumpet to replace it? I know that someone in your orchestra bought my 2000LT C from Mike Thompson recently. I hope whoever is playing it likes it, it's a great horn!!! I miss it! Louie

![]() | Re: Monette 61X-C for sale soon Derek - I agree. Larry Lowe is a great horn player. And lucky for the folks in my orchestra he is a good guy to boot! Larry is always good for a few laughs. I look forward to hearing his concerto. Jimi - Thanks for the compliment on the sound of the orchestra. I'm glad you enjoyed our sound. I orginally received my trumpet in October of 2002 so you're right that I had had my trumpet for about 8 months when you heard us. Louie - I am not planning on buying a new Monette at this time. Though they are in my opinion simply the best C trumpets around, I cannot justify having one if I'm not going to actively be playing in an orchestra. I'm not sure who purchased your LT C. The orchestra itself purchased 3 new gold plated 993's for the section and I was the odd man out with my 61X. I do know that Rick Winscott in my group had talked about buying his own Monette but am not sure if he did yet or not. |
