My New Lawler C7

I've had my new Lawler C7 for a couple of weeks now. I got mine in bright gold plate.

When I got home I played it for about 3 hours straight! Here are my first impressions. It really does what a lot of other people have commented on. It's nice and mellow (Milesy and Chet-like) at lower volumes but at higher volumes it lights up. I am very happy with how I can color the sound on this trumpet! The slots are less defined for doing bends and shakes but I still feel locking in of the notes when doing lip slurs. While my 37GH gets a wonderfully rich and thick orchestral sound (and I'll continue to use it) the C7 responds to my commands to change color and is more responsive to mouthpiece changes. It's plays smooth and even. Very responsive easy playing horn. Yeah, I likes it!

Here's some pics:

I've been playing my Lawler C7 for three months now. Roy really knows how to build a trumpet. Everything you say is true. I have played a Bach Strad LT43 for twenty five years and I must say the C7 is a much better horn in every respect. The Strad is certainly a fine trumpet, but Roy Lawler has obviously done his home work. The ability to change the tone color and dynamics are outstanding. The C7 slots well in all registers and is also very flexable. Roy is a fine gentleman and anyone searching for that perfect trumpet needs to give one of his horns a try. He is truly one of the great trumpet craftsmen of our time.

No arguments here. I'm another lover of the C7.

Enjoy yours!

St.Louis Blues will become famous soon enough
Re: My New Lawler C7

I'm with you on the Lawler. I've had my C7 for a short period of time and I love it! It's one of the most versatile horns I think I've ever had. I can blend beautifully with just about any section and still put the screws to it and soar over the top of everyone. For me I guess in switching from a major horn manufacturer to a custom built horn by Roy, it's like night and day. The feel, the blow and especially the valves on this horn makes it a pleasure to play. This is the first trumpet I've purchased that I have a hard time putting down. It is a pure joy to play this horn and my thanks go out to Roy Lawler and the fine craftsmanship that he puts into each and everyone of his creation's. My dream is for one day visiting Roy at his shop and playing all the different models he carry's. I have 2 of Roy's horns and the one single thought that comes to mind is.....Magnificent!!
