Been busy and certainly away from the site for a while. Nick... That is the smoothest...most robust sound on "any" horn I've heard you on. Full from top to bottom.

The great work continues for Felix...Andy. I keep hearing Felix say..."wait until you try (fill in the blank..new model)...". haha. I almost hate to hear him snicker this comment..because I know it's ALWAYS true. ha.

(fingers in ears...LALALALALALA)...

Nick... well done. Much thanks for posting. I am really knocked out. It's beautiful too!

Re: My New Toy - NYTC Broadway Model by Taylor/Vayser

I had a Brooklyn for a while, only a few days, but it was quite nice. The Broadway I played at my show was really nice. One of those horns that gets stuck in your head.

Still some very cool horns coming out of the NYTC. Maybe I'll start saving some pennies.............The worst thing about the NYTC is about every year something else comes out that is "needed".

Re: My New Toy - NYTC Broadway Model by Taylor/Vayser

Sorry about not being around much recently. Working on stuff..

OK, On the How High The Moon clip, I'm using a Wedge 3CC in stainless steel. On the Amazing Grace and the Summertime clips, I'm using the Asymmetric Lead model 342M.

I'm working on a little vid where I'm doing At The River as the audio. I'm using the Wedge 3CC on the NYTC Broadway. I'm going to dub a couple of pic parts, but I use either an Asymmetric or a 7FC Wedge, depending on how my chops feel at the moment.

I used my Broadway model on a heavy big band gig last night. I was the designated lead player. The book is fun, but VERY tough. On the second set I had to play Yesterdays with the long slow section into the stratosphere followed by two more touch charts including April in Paris with the dreaded one more once one more twice" stuff. Then I was asked to play Maynard's Maria as the second to the last tune fo the set. It just popped right out on that horn, though I passed off the lead on the last chart. This horn just project's like crazy!

OK, gotta run.

Nick

Re: My New Toy - NYTC Broadway Model by Taylor/Vayser

Here is the At The River Video. I am not show visibly playing in it, except for a still in Door County, and that is actually another NYTC horn. What is important here is the sound. I'm using my Wedge 3CC SSt mouthpiece and playing quite softly and the wonderful dark tone this horn produces is tribute to how versatile the products Felix produces are.

This is an experimental clip I did for my kids and students. There is an inside quote in it. I hope you can enjoy the sound and sentiment of the piece.

Once more with the NYTC Broadway model!

Peace.

Nick

Re: My New Toy - NYTC Broadway Model by Taylor/Vayser

Here is my NYTC/Taylor Broadway model at work with the legendary Chicago City Lights Orchestra. The trumpet section was me, Danny Barber and Tim Reed.

You get a nice shot of the trumpets at 2:43 and again at 3:52. The mix isn't great but it was a nice gig.

Peace!

Re: My New Toy - NYTC Broadway Model by Taylor/Vayser

Nick is a great player, I believe he would sound great on an old Olds Ambassador. I think his NYTC horns just makes it easier for him to produce such great sound tracks. My hat is off to Nick and NYTC.
