Re: mystery horn

It resembles my Lawler, slide saddle, pinky ring, 3rd slide ring and stop screw, valve caps and cylinders. The numbers are in a different place. Anything on the bell (check left side)?

Re: mystery horn

My guess is a Kanstul body. The pinky ring looks like it's from a 70s Strad.

Re: mystery horn

what does the mpc receiver look like? How about a close up of the right side at the valve casing . I need to see the side of the valve caps and finger buttons.

Re: mystery horn

I reckon the body is a Besson Marvin Stamm model (made by Kastul). The leadpipe may be from the same horn (probably not as it's raw brass) or it could be a Bach given the shape of the receiver (more likely). The pinky ring is off a 70s Bach Strad.

The bell I have no idea.

Regards,

Trevor

Re: mystery horn

I think it is a Fraken Horn made up from the parts a repair shop had on hand. Now that does not mean itis not a great playing horn since if you start with good parts and doa decent job assembling it then it should sound good. That reciever could be Bach or Olds it is also like the Generic reciver that "The band Room" and many other part's places sell. The pinky ring culd be Bach or Reynolds as my Reynolds Medalist's looks just like that only with a different finish. Those valces while well worn do not mach the age of some of the other pieces. Those are fairly modern design. The third slide stop is very much like Old's and Reynolds. I think this one was put together with various parts from various trumpet's. If the valves are still in good shapemaybe you should think abut building something you would like around it. It the valves still have good compression then you might consider sending it out to DQ custom for a copper bell and custome leadpipe maybe reveresed laedpipe etc..... I say this because you will not get much for that trumpet as is. I buy trumpets in better shape then taht one for $26-$51 off ebay all the time. If the valves are not any good then youmight want to turn it into a lamp or a wall decerations etc.......

Oh and if youlike how it plays keep it as a back-up horn?

Re: mystery horn

I love how it plays, but I am slowing down my playing and need the money, I'm just upset to hear that the horn is worth basically nothing as i paid $1,500 for it awhile back. it just blows my mind that someone would lie to my face like that. I guess if it plays well that's all that matters. thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

I don't know why no one has advised that you contact the Callichio Company with your concerns. They are ther experts on what came out of their workshop, not a bunch of hackers like us who can only 'assume' what your horns lineage might be.
