| The Total Enhancement includes all three services, Enhancement Modification Process, Digital Valve Alignment, Newest Ultrasonic Cleaning Service. Whereas the Enhancement ONLY with Ultra Sonic Cleaning, does not include the Digital Valve Alignment. Yes I can work on piccolos as well. | Hello, Flip Oakes ! First of all, I would love to know your given birth name (if it might be other than "Flip"?). "Flip" is quite unusual. I have taken to inquiring of people I know, or meet, regarding the nick-names, sort-of a goofy hobby of sorts. I knew a kid that disliked his birth name "Harold", and for whatever reason, he acquired the nick-name, "Stinky". Now that he is in his 40's, and a businessman, he "cringes" when he encounters an old acquaintance, knowing what is coming. My cousin is called "Junior", as he is named after his father ... but, that he is a foot taller, and 100 lbs heavier than his father, he is no longer comfortable with the nick-name. In any case, nice to know about your services. I have always had an interest in trying one of your horns ("Wild Thing"), to discover what is "wild" about them. Apparently, I am too late to have an opportunity to do so on the late "tour". I am in the Mid-Atlantic region (Balto-Wash-Phila) .... Any plans, or up-coming "Wild Thing" tours here ? Thanx, and have a "Wild" day ! Regards, Robert Rowe |

| Hello Robert, My given name is Philip Burrows Oakes Jr. The Burrows is taken from my grandfathers, mothers maiden name. The name Flip came from Philip as a nick name. My father was also a musician, and had his own bands etc. He went by, and was known professionally as Phil Oakes he played trombone, and guitar. My mother was a singer, and sang in my dads bands, her name was Patricia Ann, and she was called Patty Ann. I had always been called Flip ever since I can remember, and have never seen a need to change it. I lost both my mom in 1997, and my dad in 1998, so it would be easier if I did now, but I don’t have any plans to do so professionally, as it’s what I have always been known by. Throughout my life, I really have played a lot, and have traveled in many places etc. I started playing for money in my dads bands on my 12th birthday, and have played ever since, As everyone knows the work has slowed down for us all in the recent few years. Even in high school I would play 4 – 5 nights a week, back in the mid 1960’s, and when I got out of high school I was playing 6, 7 nights a week up until the mid 1980’s then I played even more from mid 1980’s until mid 1990’s. At this time work was changing as now I was playing many conventions, or casuals, plus club work, and jazz festivals etc. I started my Band Instrument Repair Business in 1972, and my WT Trumpet business in 1994. Currently I’m at the age of 55. In part one reason the playing work has dried up is, that now in So. CA. the traffic is so bad, you can no longer physically get to the gigs as you once could. I used to play sometimes 3, or 4 gigs a day. In 1986 ? if I remember the year correctly, that when Super Bowl came to San Diego I played 18 gigs in 4 days. Some only 2 hrs. long, but others 4 hours long. Times have really changed, but the name Flip has remained. Tom Turner, a long time strong supporter of mine, and because of his knowledge, and his strong loyalty towards my products and concepts I asked him to be my only sales rep., although he still does it out of love of the product, as he really doesn’t have the time etc. With Tom, his motivation is pure and simple, it’s out of the love for the trumpet, and cornet etc., in general. Tom thought that the WT Tour would be a good idea, and he did all of the leg work, the entire project! Many thanks for your extreme efforts. At this time I have no plans for doing another, as I do have a trial agreement where serious players, with intentions to commit still have a opportunity to audition the horn. 99% of all of my US sales have been through this method, and I don’t know of any unhappy customers. Yes, The TM Tour provided a lot of players the opportunity to try the horn, however it didn’t create any business perhaps at most one or two sales in the whole time of the tour, and Tom worked very hard promoting it, and trying to schedule it. The scheduling alone, in accommodating everyone's needs etc. was brilliant on Tom’s part. Yes also The TM Tour was a success in the sense that we got back some wonderful reviews that can still be seen at: http://www.flipoakes.com/wt_tour.htm but now that it’s over, I don’t have plans to do it again, as the serious potential customers will still seek my horns out, and commit, and that’s what it takes in the end to run a successful business. I know as a long time working trumpet player what players want, and I’ve worked hard at filling that need. I hope that this will answer your questions. Sincerely, Flip Oakes Flip Oakes “Wild Thing Trumpets” COME AND HEAR THE DIFFERENCE http://www.flipoakes.com “To read what Wild Thing Owners say about their horns, click on this” http://www.flipoakes.com/testimonials.htm Flip Oakes 2559 Mottino Dr. Oceanside, Ca. 92056-3421 760-643-1501 760-643-1511 Fax To Hear the Flip Oakes Wild Thing Trumpet go to http://www.flipoakes.com/multimedia.htm |
