Re: new horn

I was lucky enough to test one that Felix sent out and was a great horn. If I had the coins I would buy two horns, the Phaeton I got to test and a C7. The blow on the Phaeton was different than I was used to but as soon as I put my own horn up and played the Phaeton exclusively I adjusted real quick. I didn't realize how much I liked the horn until I sent it on and went back to my horn. Dave

Re: new horn

Hi Pat welcome to TM!
less than mediocre may have been how you described yourself yesterday. You are buying a horn for tomorrow - that will be A COMPLETE NEW CHAPTER!
Go for it!

Pat:

Rowuk is right on the money! I humbly think of myself as a less than mediocre amateur--and a player that will never have the technical skills of many/most TM members. That said, I also want to get better and better every time I play. (I am actually now doing soft slurred arpeggios EVERY time I pick up my horn--even if I don't do anything else.) Right or wrong, getting a new horn lights a fire under me to get better and better. It may be the wrong reason, but it doesn't make the effect any less valid FOR ME. Get you Phaeton, or whatevr new horn you want, and I bet you will want to rise above mediocrity--I know I do.

have fun!

Re: new horn

Ditto what bilboinsa said. When I decided to get a "GOOD" horn (Schilke) and shortly after that lucked out into an Eclipse my desire to practice, to learn and to "push the envelope" without being held back by a less-than-superlative instrument increased many times.

You'll never know the difference it can make until you actually TRY a hand-made horn. And after that you'll be hooked (line AND sinker!)
