![]() | New Lawler Model T (pics) Just got this horn yesterday. I think it's the finest horn I've ever played...a horn of this quality definately exceeds my level of skill, but I still love it. I used to have a TL6. The response on this one is a bit different because my TL6 had the 1A leadpipe, which is a little more open. I was nervous about this one being too stuffy, but it's working out just fine. I am able to even control this one a little better. I love the sound on this horn. My old Lawler had a redbrass bell, this one doesn't. It has a little more bite to the sound, and that's a good thing. I feel it has a little more presence. But comparing Lawlers to each other is kinda like comparing Hatori Hanzo swords. You compare it with every other sword in the world made by a man that wasn't made by Hatori Hanzo. OK, here are the pics.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Forte User | Cheif- Congrats. I've been on a 6r-1a for over a year now (almost 2...cake anyone?). I absolutely love the horn. They're on a completely different level from anything I've played so far. Any further comparisons between it and your 6r?

![]() | The model T is very responsive, just like all Lawlers. It lends itself very well to playing delicate passages. Some of the things that I used to play sloppy come out amazingly clean on this horn. Trills are very accurate. Ornimentation is also very clean. I think it has a big sound, compared to my previous Lawler TL6R-1A, which was meant to play mellow with it's rosebrass bell. Maybe mellow isn't what it was meant for....dark, but the T definately has a bigger sound. It's a true trumpet sound. The more I play it, the more I realize that I can really control the sound of the tone. It has a big presence of tone. I can't wait until college starts again so I can test it out with some lead-playing. If I was to compare it to a Bach Strad, I would say they both have good sounds, but the T has better resopnse and more ability to color the sound. I know that almost sounds cliche (color the sound) when referring to Lawler horns, but that is the impression I get. People consider the T an open-blowing horn, and I can't disagree. It just seems this horn offers more resistance than what I'm used to. My old Lawler had a 1A leadpipe, which is more open. It's a good resistance though. I think it will help my endurance out. Any other questions? |

![]() | I have a very fine custom trumpet Roy made for me in 2000. We went back and forth on bells, leadpipes etc. until we got it right. Marvelous horn in Gold Plate, works very well in commercial playing.
