GordonH has a spectacular aura about
New Monette Valve Block

Has anyone had the chance to try one of the new Monette valve blocks?
They are now making their own valves, and my new instrument has been delayed while they make the transition.
Because of this my guess is that there can't be many instruments with the new blocks but if anyone has tried one, how do they compare to the old ones?

Reading between the lines, Dave is gwtting very interested in tuning slide radius issues and making their own valves will give them complete control of this and greater ability to experiment.

Alex Yates has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I just returned from test playing the Prana 1 and I am fairly certain it does indeed have its own valve block. They were doing lots of work with those things while I was there. It is a difficult undertaking, but full of rewards. Dave's horns will be jumping to an even higher level with this addition. The delay will be worth it and you will love your horn when it is in your hands.

What are you having made Gordon?

I was at the factory yesterday...had a chance to play a p3 with the new valve block. It's outstanding...valves are every bit as good...perhaps slightly better...than the Bauerfine valves on my Eclipse. I visited the shop while on a business trip to Portland...and left minus a $500 deposit for my new P3. The new valves are a big step...like every advancement Dave makes. The P3 has a big sound, yet it's incredibly responsive and easy to play. It's just wonderful. I expected it to be really heavy...sluggish, and that I'd prefer the LT. Not the case. Anyone who has an opportunity to play one of these incredible instruments should jump at the chance...but beware...you won't be able to resist doing whatever's necessary to buy one.
