![]() | new spada piccolo just got back from spada`s today, was actually just there to try and find some kind of lightweight horn for commercial use, (more about that on my mrcinkiewicz post!) tried out 2 picc`s, an old 3 valve selmer and a wonderful 3 valve paul jeninga. was almost one my way out the door when Vincenz asked me if i would try a new spada picc that was just on its way to be plated. it was a 4 valve model based on the design of the new schilke p7-4 only a bit `chunkier` the long valve block (made by werner spiri in winterthur) allowed for more `open` curves in the leadpipe and bell bow. the bell was seamless copper like schilke but with a larger diameter at the end of the flare, leadpipes were specially designed from blackburn. he said at the moment only 3 were in existance, but i`m sure he`ll have back orders soon! excellent response, large sweet sound, and really easy to play, at 2900 euros raw (or there abouts) it is expensive but still worth consideration! |

| Forte User | Re: new spada piccolo I owe one of those beauties. Yes they are pretty expensive, and yes they are worth the price. I thought that the valve block was bauerfind, but was never so much concerned about the brand name as it works like hell http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/139/...o-33469-2.html (Spada Custom Piccolo) Mine is all gold plated with additional trigger for the 1st valve slide.....which is costly as well, but found it quite useful.

![]() | Re: new spada piccolo nice axe trumpetnick! yours is based on the P5-4 design copied by so many incl. kanstull and F. besson, not having played one I can`t say what it compares to playing wise, if it is an upgrade of the F. besson then it must a great picc.! the new spada model as I said is based on the P7-4 design. (schilkes new 4 valve version of their classic 3 valve model, the P7) Obvoiusly I don`t know how the two spada models compare (Rene is the guy who could tell you), what I can say is that the P7-4 is freer blowing than the P5-4 (larger bore, traditional bell bow) It`s great for le sacre or anything needing a bigger sound |
