Nine Days and Counting!! John (moving this over from Gone Fishing), You are very correct about the pins and needles! 9 days and counting... Just out of curiosity I did a little research and found some interesting facts about the contests from previous years that I thought I would share: __________________________________________________ ___Total Days of Contest_End______Award_______Days__________Number_ ___Participant Year____Date_____Announced___Waiting________of Entries___Anticipation 2004___Jan 25____Jan 27________2_____________62__________124 2005___Mar 27____Apr 3_________7_____________39__________273 2006___Apr 16____?????_________9 & counting____68__________612 + So, if we were to hazard a guess on the announcement date, it could be that 5 days will be added to past contest Award dates. This is based on the time between the 2004 and 2005 contest Award dates. Or it could be 3.5 times the number of days from the last contest (Ouch!). That would be 21 days of pins and needles or 1,428 Total Days of Participant Anticipation! That clearly moves us from pins and needles to swords and daggers! I hope the judging crew at Eclipse is making good progress with the voting process. I think a late night of pizza and beer is in order (in a locked room), to sort out the final results! Anxious in Arizona! For a little fun, lets take guesses on the Award Date

Tootsall, I just got done with a failure forecast at work comparing results for a Crow AMSAA versus a Weibull approach. My brain was spinning in this particular direction, so I decided to look at the past Contest Dates and hazard a forecast. I guess any reason to come over here and see if there are any posts from Leigh is a good reason. Now we all have a Poll to look at and commiserate together! P.S. Thanks Glenn!!!

Good show Derek! I agree with Ed though, too much time indeed. I'm a data jockey but even I did not think about mining that mess and sorting it out. I guess I'd have to agree with Glenn you must be good at what you do. Come on Leigh!! Don't keep us waiting. I wouldn't know what to do if my name came up on top... But I'd like the chance to figure it out!!!

trumpetmike, That reminds me of story... President Teddy Roosevelt was being interviewed during one of his adventures to Africa to hunt rhinoceros. The reporter said, "President Roosevelt, it’s said that you use a .600 caliber rifle when hunting rhinoceros. This is the largest rifle manufactured! Why do you use such a large gun?" President Roosevelt replied, "Because they don’t make an .800!" I’ve always liked that one!
