NYTC and piccolo

Are NYTC making any piccolo trumpets? Or do they plan to come up with? NYTC? I did not find anything on their site except the Scherzer and Posseger...anyone who can give a review about the Posseger pic?

Re: NYTC and piccolo

I will be working with Felix on a pic design very soon. I see that you play Spada trumpets, so you will probably like our design as it will be pretty close to my spada pic but better

Can you do better than Spada for the same price? He has made a hell of a piccolo...I consider very seriously buying of those As far as I know he has developped with the Principal trumpet of the Zurich Opera Orchestra and I had the possibility of testing it...I have never played such a nice piccolo. Very open and easy on the high register+very good intonation. Bigger sound than most of the piccolo I tested before but above all it was very well balanced. Give a review when you finish your work with Felix.

Re: NYTC and piccolo

I will post a full review when it is done.
I have been very happy with my spada for many years. I do play pic quite often in many settings and found a few details that could be improved and this is what I will be working on. It will be the perfect instrument for me at least

Re: NYTC and piccolo

Felix is Felix Vayser, head of the New York Trumpet Company-and one heck of a guy to work with..you should definitely get in touch with him. He is NYTC here on TM. He is the man behind the Stage 1 Trumpet line.

Re: NYTC and piccolo

I have just placed an order for a Stage 1 piccolo - i should have it by April, at which point i will post a review here.

In typical Felix fashion, he was most helpful with accomodating what i wanted. I know you've all heard it before, but that guy really is amazing to deal with!

It will be a 4 valve Bb/A, long-bell style (like a schilke), take a cornet shank, the 'natural' side will be Bb, and designed as a 'doubling' instrument for me to switch easily between it and large trumpet.

I can't wait!!!

Cheers,
- Adrian

Re: NYTC and piccolo

Adrian, very nice! I ordered my custom California Bb at the beginning of January, and I think mine is coming sometime in April. Which Bb do you play?

Re: NYTC and piccolo

well ... i did play a Stage 1 Classic - gorgeous horn in gold plate, with a red brass bell... beautiful to play! But then i discovered the hard way that carrying a trumpet on the back of a motorbike isn't the best option for getting to a gig intact, and am waiting on a Stage1 signature model - should be here very soon (nudge nudge, are you reading this Felix! ) - to replace my dearly departed Classic. I have a heavy duty, crash proof, case ready to go!

In the meantime, i have been playing a Stage 1 Vintage, that Felix very graciously allowed me to use. That is a great trumpet for the price, and worth a look for anyone in the market for a new horn but can't afford to go custom.
