Phaeton Trumpet

Interesting: They couldn't get anyone to nibble at $950.

Actually, the auction ended early. Either the seller changed his mind or got a better offer outside eBay channels. Guess we'll never know...

I guess you can get a new one for around $1,200.

That's an interesting question, Alan. I find it rather "interesting" that Wayne Tanabe has come out with two different "types" of trumpet at about the same time...the Phaeton and the "Chicago Brassworks" horns. They certainly appear to have totally different characters and, although I've read Nick Drozdoff's comprehensive review of the CBW that he purchased, I've yet to see someone talk about the Phaeton.

Anybody?

The Phaeton plays wonderfully.
The one on ebay is now mine.
The previous owner and I made a trumpet trade. We are both happy
I really like my new horn.
My wife doesn't understand :(

Who actually manufactures these horns? I have asked a few people and nobody seems to know.

Somebody advised me that W Tanabe's shop assembles the Chicago Brass horns, but they do not know about the Phaeton. They suggested it was assembled by elves at the North Pole, but I don't think they were being entirely serious.
