![]() | Piccolo Trumpet Recommendations I've narrowed my search down to the following: Yamaha YTR 9830 Schilke P7-4 Kanstul CCT-920 Haven't tried these yet ... hope to soon. Mostly will be used for brass quintet work. Interested in a larger bore horn. Your thoughts are appreciated. Roy |

![]() | Re: Piccolo Trumpet Recommendations I was set on buying a Kanstul CCT-920. Just before purchasing one, I got a chance to try the new Bach VBS 196 piccolo trumpet. I ended up getting the Bach. Thought it was freer blowing and I was able to get a bigger sound with less tension. I prefer it to the P5-4. If you can find one, I think it is definitely worth trying out. Garry |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Piccolo Trumpet Recommendations I have tried them all and they are all fine horns. I think that I could live with any of them. I tried the Schilke recently at the Frankfurt Musikmesse. It sounds like a Schilke, is in tune like a Schilke and is sooo easy to play, but that is exactly what I though about the other two instruments too. If you only get to play one of them and you like it, buy it. Always play before you pay!!!!!!!!

![]() | Re: Piccolo Trumpet Recommendations Like gchun I also bought the Bach VBS 196 as an aternative the the Schilke P5-4. Much more free blowing and a great tone/sound. Has a Reeves alignment, an A and Bb pipe. Also a small "G" slide to play Picc parts in G. I have heard that the the Schilke P-7 is much more free blowing the the P5-4. If you come across the new Bach VBS 196 before you make a purchase, you may like gchun, decide that it may be the horn for you. Good luck and let us know how you made out. Stomvi has a hand in the manufacture in the Bach. The Elite has a similar but not identical look, but per KO at Reeves, a completely different horn "inside" air column, alignment.
