| Pianissimo User | Chief, Way to go! I hope your new horn plays as good as it indeed looks! I did my new horn search and found the brushed finish look so nice. They stand out amongst the crowd of polished lacquer horns and those oldie but goodie raw brass jobs. When I bought my ZeuS Olympus Alex talked me out of getting the raw brushed copper horn. He said once you touched it it started to look like a dirty penny. If did didn't touch all of it often enough it would take forever to get the patina we would all want on such a raw horn. I too opted for the brushed finish, but lacquered, so I could enjoy the beauty of it forever, without having to spend as much time cleaning as I would playing! Again, enjoy! I'm sure you'll find it is really worth the wait! |

| Dear Pwillni and Chief First of all Chief...WOW what a beautiful horn. Lawters if I am not mistaken are hand crafted beauties made by one of the guys who designed the Martin Committee. I own a Miles Davis tribute horn, the Red Laquered Martin Comittee T3467 with deluxe gold engraving and love the look as well as the sound. Dear Pwillni Zeus Ollympus are beautiful horns too! I love the look of raw brass and envy how little polishing you have to do on such a horn, but my Red Laquered baby is so beautiful I love taking the extra time every night after performing to polish her up. By the way what mouthpieces do you guys play? I like the Holton Heim 2 but love my Monette STC1-B4. Ya I know $300 is a little stiff for a mouthpiece, but it makes my Martin not only sing, but soar! By the way, I havent yet figured out how to get a picture of my horn next to my name on my posts like you guys have...how do I do it? Rick AKA Trumpet Man Quote:

| Roy did an awesome job on this horn, I couldn't be happier with it. That's a very nice looking Zues you got there Pwillni. The brushed finish suits me well because I can't stand fingerprints, and they're all-but nonexistant on this finish. Greg C, I am very anxious to try out the model T. I bet it plays really nice. As nice as this new Lawler looks, that all means nothing to how it plays and sounds. It's hard to set-aside the aesthetical-beauty of it, but when doing so, I enjoy the sheer craftsmanship and playability of this horn. Rick, I was not aware that Roy was on the 'committee' that invented the Martin Committee, but yes, they are handmade beauties. |

| New Friend | Unless Roy is the mystery player from the Chicago symphony... I'm pretty sure he wasn't one of the Committee's original designers. From dallasmusic.org: The committee was: 1. Renold Schilke (who always claimed the horn was designed by a committee of one, him) 2. Vincent Bach 3. Elden Benge (Schilke and Elden built the early Chicago Benge horns in Schilke's garage, they were neighbors and Schilke had the machine tool experience) 4. Foster Reynolds (later he designed the Olds Mendez with Rafael) 5. A local player, presumably from the Chicago Symphony, since all these guys had strong ties to the symphony, |
