Re: Pocket trumpet?

G'day Mike,
I have a Weril Pocket Trumpet, and after a little lapping work on the valve casing, I find it a delightful little horn. I always find the weight a surprise - I sort of expect it to be light - it's not and the left hand is a bit awkward in the grip. I find that it's not easy to get notes to split as the volume increases - as I say, quite a nice little trumpet - and plenty loud enough for much of the inside work our Concert Band has done. Mutes don't grip well, and the trumpet stand is a waste of time - but the kids in the band always see it as a treat to get a chance to knock out a tune in the practice room. This particular Weril (an EP4071 I think) is frosted gold plate, lacquered, with polished gold highlights in the bell, and top and bottom valve caps.

Re: Pocket trumpet?

Hello Hitman - here you go - this is a Brazilian Horn, made by Weril. It is not my own trumpet, but an image taken from the Weril website - EP4071 Pocket Trumpet.

Re: Pocket trumpet?

There are some good ones, and there are some bad ones too.
I personally own a Phaeton pocket trumpet.
Plays great, intonation is really good, and it does not cost a lot.
I would recommend it any day.

I bought mine in Melbourne for AUD$610 from www.elstub.com.au/trumpets.htm - they are the Aussie agent for Weril.

Search TM for Pocket Trumpets before you jump in - there are plenty around that cost less.

Re: Pocket trumpet?

$600 I could buy a really good trumpet for that price instead of a pocket one.

Re: Pocket trumpet?

I've tried one, maybe it wasn't a very good one though I can't remember the make. I tried it at Midwest a couple years ago. I though of it as fun toy but not really neccessary.
