Possegger/Galileotrumpets

I was just wondering if anyone owns/played a Possegger or a Galileo trumpet? I'm curious of your feed back. I don't ever have the opportunity to make hangs at trumpet days in New York or any of the other various places they've been held.

They look like nice horns and if Felix is marketing them I'm sure they are great horns and play great, but just wanted to hear some opinions.

Thanks

Re: Possegger/Galileotrumpets

Felix has carried and had a collaborative relationship with Anton Possegger for a good while. Therefore, I've had the good fortune to have played a good many of these models.

To me, they are very unique. The way they blow (very smoothly) to the wonderful valves(and fluid slotting to each note), these are really special. Very good projection on the models I've tried...but perhaps not as much in the way of feedback (though certainly not as lacking in this department as other designer's models that I've tried).

Very striking design. Very modern. The finishes are simply stunning. Every horn I've held has been of the highest quality. Well worth anyone's time to experience.

As for Galileo...I have not had the opportunity to try any of these. However, conversations with Felix have indicated that they are another well crafted instrument. Definitely another high end horn (an another I had no idea existed) ha. As you can see on the NYTC site, more very striking designs..and well in line with some of the newer, more progressive design models out today.

Fun times.... terrific instruments out there, folks.

Re: Possegger/Galileotrumpets

I have played some of the Possegger trumpets and flugels. The Trumpets have Bauerfeind Valves if I remember well. They tend to have a darker sound then most yamaha and strads that I have played. Most of them have good slotting (rather tight) and intonation and are easy to play. The finishes are quite spectacular as you may see from the website. All the building stuff like fitting, braces has been made with a great care. The flugelhorns were a bit odd the hold, but I guess this feeling will disappear if I was to own or to play regularly the horn. I never played a Galileo horn, so I will pass the torch to the next poster.

Re: Possegger/Galileotrumpets

Hi, I purchased a Possegger "C" roter trumpet from Felix, a wonderful change from the piston horns. I also have a Galileo Jooleo, a better horn you will not find. The Jooleo plays like a dream. Thanks, Jack Boyko

Re: Possegger/Galileotrumpets

I have the New York Possegger Felix had made for the NYTC, this thing plays like nothing else I have ever played. It does everything very well. It has turned into my "all the time" horn.

I would try them if you can, I can't wait to play the new signatures.

Re: Possegger/Galileotrumpets

I had the pleasure of meeting Anton Possegger when he first came to NYC to negotiate his distribution deal with NYTC. A friend of Possegger's contacted me for a lesson. At the lesson , I noticed the really cool looking trumpet that the gentleman had.....it was a Possegger. I played it at the lesson.....great horn indeed. After the lesson, Possegger came by the studio to pick up his friend and then I had a chance to try out a couple more.

These horns are assembled beautifully.....no cheapo slap together job....we're talking world class trumpet construction. The valves are either German or Austrian.....top shelf stuff!

These horns are in tune and have a wonderful broad sound.

I've stated in several posts in the past that I'm a Stomvi guy, but that doesn't mean that I don't complement horns from other manufacturers. A great horn is a great horn.

PeaceRV
