Question about Olds Studio 59xxx

Hi,

A couple of years ago I bought an Olds Studio on Ebay, sn 59124 which dates it to 1951-2. I like it a lot and although it is quite tatty it plays fine.

Recently I have been wondering if it is 'entirely' authentic, but as models evolve through minor changes I am thinking that I need to compare it with one of the same year, if possible, so if you have one then I would be keen to exchange photos.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Question about Olds Studio 59xxx

Mine is serial # 547XX and is brass with a nickel silver bell flare. It has trombone type spit valves and is a very fine player.

Re: Question about Olds Studio 59xxx

Thanks OldLou,

mine is also brass with the nickel flare. The nibs on the slides are not the pearl type. They look like rounded flat bar. Also the valve casings are all brass but that could be a result of the satin finish it already had when I acquired it.

One minor thing I have noticed being different to the studios which I have seen on the web is that the knurling on the caps does not run perpendicular but is on the slant.
I am not sure if I can post jpgs here. If I cannot then I will find some webpace and post a link.

Also I should mention that I have had a good look over the Olds Central site.
