Ricco Rotary Trumpets Dear Friends: Last June I traveled to Oederan, Germany, near Dresden, and purchased two awesome instruments from Ricco Keuhn. The horns are pictured below. One is a rotary fleugelhorn mit kranz - the first ever made by Ricco with a kranz on the brass bell. The other rotary is a C trumpet/large goldbrass bell with kranz - both gold plated as you can see. Both horns produce a nice full sound - the C trumpet has a noble brilliant sound that is dark and rich in character. The rotary valve action is extremely quiet and smooth. Ricco is extremely kind and personable. He really listens to his customers' comments seriously and pays great attention to detail. Derek Reaban had a chance to briefly try them out when we played together at a Thanksgiving Eve church service a few days ago at Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Arizona. He'll probably write his thoughts later. Bis dann und Alles Gute, Timothy Moke ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Ricco Rotary Trumpets Great choice! I also have a Ricco Kühn C in silver, and I really love it, for all the reasons enumerated. However, I just loaned mine to a friend who'll be taking some auditions soon, so I'm suffering from withdrawal pains! I bet those goldies sound amazing...I wish you many years of joy and satisfaction with them. If you ever get a chance to post a sound clip or two... Peace & best wishes, Chas

Re: Ricco Rotary Trumpets Post of soundclip/movie On my way to Oederan to visit Ricco and to purchase the rotary trumpets, I had the opportunity to play in Dresden infront of the Luther statue which is in front the the Frauenkirche. Ludwig Guttler was the primary force in getting this church restored. Here is a movie soundclip: http://www.motionbox.com/video/playe...9823941f20e3#1 Sorry, it was played on my Bach C, not the Kuehn rotary C. I was enroute to see Ricco. Oederan is 45 min. or so from Dresden by train. Timothy Moke
