Schilke B3

I have had many Schilke Horns but never a B3. In the years I've had horns this is the first sight unseen horn I've purchased. What can I expect as a difference to the B1, S42 and B6 that i have previously owned.

I play a Schilke B3L. It is an amazing horn. While I can't compare it to the ones you listed, I can compare it to the 50th anniversary Schilke horn that came out recently.

The b3 is a very open horn that allows you to control your tone very easily. I can go from a bright lead trumpet sound, to a soft classical tone without much effort. The horn slots really well in all registers.
The tuning bell makes the horn vibrate differently in my experience. If you tune form the main tuning slide, the horn feels different than if you tune with the bell. I read that that is because of where the horn vibrates.

The valves are really smooth and fast. Compared to my old horn (Getzen Eterna, upswept bell) the valves are much lighter, which makes playing fast lines alot easier.
