![]() | The Selman company Do we know anything about Selman of Germany? I think it is Chinese. The Germany part might be a hook to sell it. This pocket trumpet is for sale a few miles from where I live. I think I"ll take a look at it. Price is $70.00. |

| Re: The Selman company Selman is Chinese, with so called German engineering. Just another one of the countless low priced horns coming out of China. Some aren't too horrible. Some are. It ranks right up there with Buscher, Martian, and Konn. Not alot of money, so how badly can you lose. Here's one on Ebay. 92% OFF! NEW 2008 SILVER SELMAN MINI POCKET TRUMPET - eBay (item 250240070440 end time Apr-29-08 10:46:22 PDT) greattunesdirect is the main pusher of Selman . $70.00 is about what they sell for used on Ebay. So you can always dump it later and get your money back. Let us know what you think of the horn if you make the plunge. Good luck ! Last edited by Toobz : 04-29-2008 at 03:44 AM. |

| Re: The Selman company One of my seventh grade band students bought a Selman Bflat trumpet two years ago. Suprisingly, it was the least lousy (But still lousy!) of the Chinese/Indian cheap trumpets. |

![]() | Re: The Selman company This morning, the phone number for the ad didn't work. I sent an email inquiry to get driving instructions. I will be able to play the horn before I decide. The ad is on Craigs list St. Louis. search on "Selman Pocket trumpet." |

| Re: The Selman company I bought a selman pocket trumpet. It's decent quality, and it plays very nice. There is no resistance and the tone is really good. It's the only pocket trumpet in a reasonable price range that had monel valves. I'm very happy with it. It definately outranks cecelio and the other crap out there. There is alot worse than selman. It's good for students and those that have a limited budget. I gave them my business twice and I'm not disappointed. Last edited by Decentplayer : 04-29-2008 at 12:58 PM. Reason: adding |

So, like everyone else, it's the cheap or the very cheap, and trying to figure out which is which . . . As to play before you pay, noone seems to carry pockets, so even with a trial period there is paying for shipping, so it's best to have at least some idea of whether or not it's "good enough" for practice purposes. So, back to the question at hand, if/when you try it, it would be good to know what you thought. Thanks | |

| Re: The Selman company Its mainland Chinese junk. Selman is a take off on the Selmer brand name to trick people. If it sounds to good to be true it is. Sellers of this junk hang out on music sites to give false information out. Beware! Last edited by Hairy James : 05-13-2008 at 05:12 PM. Reason: Didn't see other comments |

| Re: The Selman company Selman is a decent brand for students. Much cheaper prices and good equiptment. I bought 2 instruments from them and I'm very happy with them. If you're looking for pro instruments, then you go pay the high price. If you're looking for decent and well made beginner instruments, I'd buy from them again. You all can rag on em all you want, it's your loss. Go get ripped off by high priced stuff that can also be made in china. |
