Get in touch with TMer brekelefuw. He transformed a very cheap horn into a work of art!

Re: Simba Trumpets

I have heard some great stuff about Barrington. I found a place that sells them for $229 and to be honest looking at the picture's they are either made by Jupiter for someone else or they copied the Jupiter 600 model line becuase they could pass for clones looking at them. They have Gold Brass and Red Brass for bell and leadpipe choices and they offer a silver model. So their are some good deals out their but it does pay to ask. Since Jupiter's are not bank Breaker's and they play geat and hold up like any other top name brand I think they have to be the best deal on a "New" student trumpet if shoping the retail. If you want quality for cheap Suzuki has a program where they sell direct to the public no dealership's. Their student model is trumpet is like $199, Intermediat $399 and their Pro model is $1000 that is for trumpet's. I have not spoken to anyone that owns one nor have I handled one but I can not help but think that they wouldnot put their name on Junk even if they do not make it! This is another case where I think Jupiter is makeing them or Yamaha because I can not think that they would maintain their own plants for a direct sales program like that. Kind of likeif Toyota came out with an Instrument line even if they where not makeing them they would be built to some insane standards or they would not put their name on it type of deals!

Thanks for your comments on the Barrington.I have the brass lacquer model obtained very cheaply from WWBW Clearance at the time. Mine is my main "ax" and I have played it for almost two years with no significant issues. Interesting about the possible relationship to Jupiter, as the Barrington is Taiwanese made also. It is still a good value, like you say. They are selling a more expensive model now that looks sort of "Strad Like" to me, but I am not great on design clues!

Re: Simba Trumpets

While my spelling and puncuation are nto so hot but I have a really keen set of eye's when it comes to details and such. My hands are preety good too. I used to joke around in quality and tell people I had calibrated eye ball's and finger tips. I think that Barrington probably contracts in volume and just specifis the differnt leadpipe and bell material then the basic 600 or now the 606 Jupiter models. I can tell you the valves on my Jupiter are by far the best I have felt on any monel valved trumpet. They are even better then my Nickle Silver valves on my Reynolds and that is saying something since I use them as a gold standard since my Reynolds was made by Olds & Son's and has the best valves I had ever felt prior to that Jupiter! I am not a fan of Monel valves so for me to say what I just said is a big big deal for me to say. I have no idea how well they will last over time but they are as slick and smouth and light as can be!
