Simba Trumpets

Hey guys, has anyone ever heard of Simba trumpets?

My brother just picked one up cheap in a discount store and it really is
not a bad horn, especially for a student in the early years.

Just curious,

Thanks,

Greg

Re: Simba Trumpets

I have never held one...never played one...just only hear stories. Funniest one I heard...
A guy was selling one of their piccolo tpts on ebay. Part of his description was something like..."these instruments are put together with only the finest camel spit and flour paste available"....

At least it was an honest ad. He knew what he had bought and wasn't going to pull the wool over on someone else. ha.

I bought one of these dirt cheap as it was a good deal for the case.
The instrumnet was not bad. A bit flimsy but it played in tune.
I gave it away to someone and he still plays it with a samba band.

The valves are rubbish though.
But for free it was not a bad deal.

ZeuSter is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Simba Trumpets

One of my student's mom bought him a new one and it wasn't bad at first , then ...
#1 the felts came off of the valves

#2 the "corks" came out of the water keys

#3 the valves became sluggish ( no matter how much you oiled them)

#4 the pinky hook just came off one day while he was playing it in band.

He went back to playing his used Bundy model.

Actually the best thing about the whole deal was the case which is probably
better quality than the trumpet.
This has been the my only experience with a Simba trumpet.

Re: Simba Trumpets

They are awful. I have a neighbor kid whose parents bought him one a couple years ago. I fix up old trumpets and give them to needy kids. His Simba was terrible, bad valves, misaligned spit valves, loose leaking slides, the works. He couldn't get it to play an in tune scale and neither could I. I wanted him playing a good horn and wanted to get the Simba away from him. I traded him a Holton Collegiate in great condition for it. He is still playing the Holton. As for the Simba I ran over it with my 4x4 to flatten it like a pancake. I have it mounted on a plaque saying "B-Flat Trumpet". It is hanging in my den and always attracts a few laughs. PS: He is using the case the Simba came in for the Holton. The case was OK.

Re: Simba Trumpets

Sounds like if you buy a Simba trumpet you get a "great case" and can use the instrument for a lamp. Seems like a bargain to me.

Best wishes,

Lloyd
