Stage 1 Vintage Bb

I've heard about this horn and how good it is.

Are there any professional (or personal) reviews out there about this horn?

Re: Stage 1 Vintage Bb

I have two students playing this model at the moment. Nice horn, well built, good compact tone with plenty of presence, plays well in tune and responds well. I think it would make a nice addition to anyones collection, and for the price it outplays many other horns.

Imagine a very traditional, well rounded (genre) trumpet sound...that actually plays in tune and even across registers... That's this horn. I have played this model many times.

Tony D has it pegged, though....as usual. Nice to have these types of choices available to us in this day and age.

Re: Stage 1 Vintage Bb

I have mine about 3 weeks so far, and I love it. I've played Bach Strads for over twenty years and this is the first horn that Ive played that I like better. It's easy to play, the intonation is great, and it projects like crazy. I'm still getting used to having to work less. I'm using the curved tuning slide and the heavy top caps on mine. I don't know where you are, but now that Felix has opened a store in NYC it's even easier to try the whole Stage 1 line. For the money it was well worth it.

Re: Stage 1 Vintage Bb

Darn! I can't buy anything from Ebay because I'm in China.

By the way, can anyone tell me the price of the Vintage, because on the New York Trumpet Company site, it's US$2250 and on the one that the company is selling on ebay, it's only US$1500. That's a pretty big price difference!

I think this trumpet might be perfect because it seems pretty versatile in genre.

Re: Stage 1 Vintage Bb

The $1500 was a sale price that was being offerred by NYTC before Jan. 1st. The current price is $2250 on the website. Unless the ebay price is something special going on.

Re: Stage 1 Vintage Bb

So it's around the same price as a Schilke B1?

Anyone have a comparison to make between the trumpets?

Sorry if I'm picky, but did your Vintage Bb come with the option of custom things (amado water keys, gold trim, etc.) or did you have to pay extra? Also, did it come with a case?

Lots of questions that keep coming...best and most quick way to get answers are to contact Felix directly:

Nytrumpetco@aol.com

I think the basics of how the horn plays, etc have, basically, been covered. You are now into things that only Felix can answer. You are ready for the next step! Best of success to you!

Original_Username: Contact Felix. But these are CUSTOM horns. You can change whatever you want on it. If you hate amado water keys, Felix won't be putting them on your horn, for example.
