| from : http://www.osmun.com/services/tptserv.htm Venting the valve allows the pressure in the closed slide to equalize so that, when you press the valve, you don't get a puff of air that may upset the embouchure. Third valves are normally vented. We don't recommend venting first valves since, without the suction of the valve to hold the slide in place, they usually end up on the floor. |

| Hi Reverend, Do you know if the basic design charasteristic are a " poly-bore design " or " stepped -bore design " which , as you probably know, means the taper of the leadpipe carries all the leadpipe, tuning slide thru to the bottom tubing of the tuning slide were it finally reaches the trumpet's largest bore size in the tubing entering the valve casing simular to the Callet Jazz , Schilke B1. B2, B4, B5, B6 , B7, V-raptor and Martin Committee ( not to mention the yamaha "z" and the Lawler and Marciekiewitz Martin committe replica's) making it somewhat easier to manage and control for most playing situations or is is a straight .470 bore coming right off the end of the leadpipe with the only tapered tubing being the leadpipe and the 13 different tuning slides making it play more like a Schilke X3, x4 or Benge 7x Thanks, Larry " the more I practice, the luckier I get " - Lee Travino |
