Re: Taylor

I have a Chicago Lite .460 bore with red brass bell.
Incredible horn which can be used in all kind of settings.

I do also use the Taylor Roar Sound Sleeve system

Re: Taylor

I had a chance to play quite a few of Andys horns 2 years ago. They play VERY well, have a pretty much "standard" sound and are works of art.

I guess if you want a big bore, you can have it. I wouldn't know why lead should be better or easier that way. But it is your money. Do you buy cars with bigger tires because they are faster that way? The comparison is 100%. Just like not pulling the engine into the equation makes the car decision bogus, not considering your face or efficiency makes your horn qualification bogus.

Do yourself a favor, research the truth yourself and forget about the "guys at school". First hand info is much better than rumor control.

This can get you started:

Re: Taylor

I have a Taylor Chicago X-Lite (the lightest of the Chicago horns...it is lighter than it looks) that I purchased through Chuck Matthews this summer. It is a great horn. I have played it in both Jazz Band and Concert Band settings, and it has handled both extremely well. I can blend with the Bachs in the section, but can play out over the crowd when playing a lead part or soloing. It is an ML bore (.460) horn, but it has an open blow. I haven't had an opportunity to play any other Taylor Chicago horns, but there are some videos out on YouTube that might help....
