Traded my Yammie 6335s for an Olds Super/Ultrasonic

Okay, I know that the Yammie was probably worth more money, but I didn't like the horn. I've had it for about 25 years. I bought it from Frank Campos in 1984. It was okay, and I played it a lot for about 10 years, but it just doesn't fit the way I play. When my son started playing I bought a used Strad 37 and gave the Yammie to him. When he became proficient, he informed me that he didn't like the horn, so I swapped him the Bach for it.

A friend had the Olds and he didn't like it. Seemed like a good swap to me. It is an interesting instrument. Should make a good lead horn. I think it will be even better after I align the valves. It is nearly pristine, except for a small kink in the bell taper and a couple of peck dents. Those should be no problem to fix.

Everyone seems to be getting Olds these days......I know the Super, I think they're terrific: as far as I'm concerned, you did very well out of that particular trade!

Re: Traded my Yammie 6335s for an Olds Super/Ultrasonic

Boy, Mike, you MUST be excited about this trade. I just saw your near-identical post at TH.com. Yep, sounds like a great trade since you really got a horn that speaks to you and you truly enjoy playing her.

I've only owned a '67 Olds Ambassador, which I sold some months ago. But, she sure was a sweetheart of a horn. I've heard only more flattering things about the Super, Recording, and the Super Recording models.

Enjoy and again congratulations.

I agree that you make a great trade. I hope you continue to enjoy it. I just bought a Super Ultrasonic as well. I have not played one but if it is anywhere near as good as the other Olds models I have, I am excited to try it.
