| A Trumpet Safari Well, it's Original_Username here once again. I'm not too well-known on the forum here but I've mainly used trumpet master for all the research I've put into finding my first professional Bb trumpet. I want this horn to last and so a lot of thought has been put into my year-long hunt for my ideal trumpet. I currently play a 7 year old Vincent TR300 Bb Trumpet w/ a 1.5C Mouthpiece. I can already tell why this is considered a student trumpet with the level I need to play at in high school. I've looked at MANY trumpets so far in my hunt for the ideal pro trumpet (that I'm still looking at). Being in China, I can't ACTUALLY test out the horns so I've had to be meticulous in all of my inquiries. I "needed" a trumpet that was extremely versatile (I do Jazz, Symphony, Concert Band, and the Musical), open, had good intonation, and slotted well. I discovered that reverse leadpipes usually helps with lessening the resistance. My budget was also limited to under US$2000. I started with the Bach Strad, moved on to the Yamaha Xeno which is what my two friends both own in Beijing . I found that the Bach Strad made a very good standard, but the Xeno seemed a tad bit resistant and unflexible for me. This of course is my own opinion. Next, I began looking at more horns. There was the Schilke, but I had issues with the prices. The same happened with the Stage 1 Vintage that I sooo admired as well as the Selmer Paris TT and 80J. Then there was the Phaeton, but something about the horn seemed strange to me. I still can't seem to place what it is though. Next, I thought about vintage horns but for some reason I was unable to purchase a Selmer Paris K-modified on Ebay because of some account troubles. Finally, I've looked at the Austin Winds Stage, Stomvi USA, and the Sonare 900S. The Stomvi and the Sonare both seem excellent and tend to match all my needs, so I am still debating about it. Any thoughts about the two great horns? Both are around the same price w/ the Stomvi USA being $1,799.00 at Thompson Music and the Sonare TRC900BYS costing $1759.00 at Sam Ash. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Stomvi USA, not only because of Ray Vega's reccomendation, but my former trumpet teacher also played a Stomvi Master and guaranteed the quality of them.
