![]() | Tunable Bell I'm a student trumpet player and I recently bought a Bach Strad C (large bore, 239 bell, 25c leadpipe) and I was wonder what people's thoughts were on the tunable bell conversion, because I have heard some people swear that its the greatest thing since sliced bread, but others complain constantly about it So, thoughts? |

Most of the intonation issues that I have with Bach are improved without having to bore the mouthpiece out to make the slots play "fuzzier". Works best with a tuning post located where the front bell brace was.

![]() | Re: Tunable Bell Well, I handed my trumpet over to Dick Akwright this week and he said they don't really need it now, but he'd "make it sound better" Well, I'm getting it back in a little over a week, so i'll see...

| Forte User | Re: Tunable Bell I agree with all of the above. The only disadvantage is that you need to be more careful with it, avoid to hold it by the bel crook when not playing. A stop screw as Leigh put on his Eclipses may be very useful. Using a trumpet stand with those trumpet can be risky as well. Myself as you may see I use a Bach trumpet with tunable bell made by Spada in Switzerland. Great trumpet. But he goes further by customising leadpipes and tuning slides.

![]() | Re: Tunable Bell Why do they design tunable bells so that the entire bell moves? Why don't they leave the bell braced as usual and just have a u-shaped crook that pulls out from the first valve and the bell? Just curious. |

Do you have something against Eclipse, or are you a member of the Schilke family? Just curious..... -cw-
